why our biome needs to be preserved
The Congo Tropical Rainforest, like countless other rainforests, is home to many unique plants and animals. Each species and organism plays a roll in it's ecosystem. Unfortunately, many of these species are at risk of going extinct. As a society, it is our responsibility to protect and preserve our world; this includes rainforests and the animals residing within. The first step is to stop tearing down the trees for our own personal benefit. The Amazon Rainforest alone is responsible for the production of 20% of the world's oxygen. Without these forests, sustainable life on earth will no longer be possible. Furthermore, the water cycle is maintained through rainforest, especially big ones such as the Congo Tropical Rainforest. If humanity doesn't change it's ways, it is estimated that in 100 years there will be no more rainforests left on earth.

species at risk management plan: the chimpanzee
In Central Africa, a problem has arose: the chimpanzee population is plummeting. Due to poaching, disease, and habitat loss, chimpanzee lives are being lost at an alarming rate. Some problems can be eliminated easier than others, such as poaching. As bushmeat is a primary food source in Central Africa, it has been recently commercialized to satisfy the wealthy. If we find other foods to satisfy the rich, poaching would become less common. Other problems, however, are not as easy to solve. Ten's of thousands of apes have been killed form the Ebola disease alone. A medical system or some vaccinations may help to conserve what is left of the chimp population. Finally, habitat loss can be prevented by stopping the process of deforestation. These animals live on the tops of the trees in the forests, and by clearing the trees, they are destroying the chimp's home. If the chimpanzee's have a chance, it's by stopping poaching and deforestation, and starting a system of vaccination.
